Dear Parents & Guardian,
Winter sports season is just around the corner & we wanted to inform you about our elementary basketball program for girls in grades second through six. The structure of the program will be the same as previous years & consist of 4th-6th grade girls from all the elementary schools in Sharon City School District. All coaches have successfully completed the same clearance check procedures as the teachers in the district.
The focus of our league is instruction of fundamental basketball concepts, teamwork & skill development. Our practices provide all players with the opportunity to improve from the beginning of the season to the end & each player will have the opportunity to execute their learned skills in game situations. While we keep scores & records our league focus is for the players to improve throughout the season. Based on experience, those players that adhere to this concept will unquestionably improve their skills on the court.
In the words of Coach Torr "Let's get better!”

CHIP Health Coverage Information
If you have students who have CHIP health coverage, please be advised that the automatic extensions enacted during the COVID-19 pandemic are now expiring. Because of the pandemic, the federal government allowed a continuation of Medicaid (also known as Medical Assistance or MA) and Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) coverage for most people, even if they were no longer eligible. This is ending on March 31, 2023, and after April 1 - if the policy is not renewed, they risk losing health coverage.
Please share this information with the families that you serve.
1. Families who are highly mobile are at the most risk of losing coverage.
2. Renewals need to be done through COMPASS and can be done by mail if a notification was received. Mail will not be forwarded to a new address.
3. Renewals can be done online at: https://www.dhs.pa.gov/PHE/Pages/default.aspx#:~:text=Online%20%E2%80%94%20Complete%20your%20renewal%20online,local%20county%20assistance%20office%20(CAO)

5. Renewals can be done in person at a local County Assistance Office.
